There is nothing more important for conservation than people's awareness

Conservation of threatened species

Census the remaining populations, protect the surviving specimens from herbivores, collect seeds and cultivate them, create new wild populations or reinforce existing ones, raise awareness among the population...

All of these are the actions we do with each of the more than 30 species of flora with which we work daily, some of them so threatened that they have fewer than 100 natural individuals.

Restoration of natural habitats

We have been working for more than 30 years to return the degraded areas of the Park to their natural state, those that were occupied by old plantations of commercial species (pines and eucalyptus) and, more recently, those that have suffered the passage of the great forest fire. of 2012.

The Garajonay Restoration Plan is based on the application of the most innovative techniques and the continuous monitoring of the results, promoting the natural regeneration of the mountain.

Prevention and fight against forest fires

Forest fires are the greatest threat we have faced, with the indelible memory of the two most serious fires we have suffered, in 1984, the only one that took human lives, and in 2012, the one that burned the largest area of the forest. .

The park has a device that is maintained throughout the year, and is considerably reinforced during the summer campaign with more human and material resources.

What do you want to be in this national park...

Rock, mushroom, moss, fern, butterfly, dove, spider web, bird, drop of water, tree leaf... the residue, the cigarette butt, the poorly parked vehicle, the noise, the broken plant, the baited bird, the engraving on the bark of the tree...

If you really care, it moves you, or you need to feel part of this nature, the way you visit it is the best expression of respect and affection towards this place.

Thank you for paying your taxes!

The budget of the National Park comes from the taxes that we Spaniards pay. There is no charge for services, no sponsorships, patronages or other financial contributions are received. It's all public money that comes out of the pockets of the people who pay taxes in Spain.
